“One little step further”: Italian major league seen by the little Sassuolo

The comeback on Sassuolo’s bench of Eusebio Di Francesco, called back last week, coincided with the delicate challenge of “Dall’Ara” stadium, facing that Bologna which, during the first mach at Mapei Stadium, could not manage to overturn the result despite it had several occasions to move to the 2 – 2 during the final minutes. Redblues, which before today’s match had five points more than today’s opponents, change their tecnique after the defeat in Catania of last 6th of January, prefering the expierience of Davide Ballardini, who supplanted Stefano Pioli. What amazed more of his Bologna, which was deprived of its best player, Alessandro Diamanti (who flew to China), is its spirit of sacrifice, the chemistry in a team which, despite it has not exalted individualities, has given a hard time to teams far more ambitious like Garcia’s Rome and Seedorf’s Milan.
Mister Ballardini, who had to renounce to three fundamental pawns such as Konè, Cristaldo e Morleo, to challenge Sassuolo put only the Brazilian Ibson behind the only point Rolando Bianchi. On the other side Di Francesco (who during the week has defined the match against Bologna as the first of the twelve finals Sassuolo will play until the end of the season), facing the heavy disqualifications of Berardi, who will have two more days, and Zaza, as well as the injured Manfredini, Ziegler and Rosi, chose to marshal his trustworthy pattern 4-3-3 since the first minute of playing. It cannot be said that it was an astounishing match, maybe it made close people’s eyes, but you couldn’t expect much more from two teams with few quality players on the ground and several problems outside it. It ended zero to zero, with little emotions. Positive notes for Sassuolo come mainly from the defence.
This match, which guarantees blackgreens an advantage in direct matches against Bologna, must stand for the last finalizing for the team, which could not afford to leave any point behind since next Sunday against Catania.
This is the first point for Sassuolo in the second round. The first after seven consecutive defeats.
