Leeds United is a football team with an ancient tradition in the British football. Elland Road is the Peacocks’ wonderful stadium, which has a total capacity of about 40K seats.
Leeds counts several cups in the trophy room, mainly achieved in the past, when the Whites competed against Nottingham Forest and Derby County, the leading clubs once.
In the early 2000s Leeds United reached the top again, thanks to skillful players such as Kewell, Viduka, Ferdinand, Alan Smith, Woodgate, Fowler, Robbie Keane. However, the financial breakdown dragged the Whites (another nickname, inspired by the uniforms coloration, taken from Real Madrid shirts) to the third division.
Since 2010/2011 Leeds have played in the Championship, the English second division, ranking at the bottom. At the end of last season, Cellino purchased the club, after a long negotiation. When the club transfer was completed, many reforms started in order to fix management issues. According to this statement, we foresee another transition season in the United future. However that may be, the Championship is very similar to serie B in challenging and rivalry: there will be many surprises. The team has changed, as you can see: in the departures, El-Hadji Diouf, ex international football star, and Ross McCormack, the last topscorer for the Whites (29 goal in all competitions), moved to Fulham for 10 milion pounds; in the arrivals, in “Italian taste”: Silvestri, Bianchi, Berardi, Doukara are all old knowing from Italian football.
In the first match of the season, Leeds United lost 2-0 against Millwall, even if Tommaso Bianchi missed the match due to a ban. The “motorino of Piombino”, a great fighter in the field who never gives up, has everything to be an important part of the team, and we are sure he will enjoy the English experience at his best.
